Virginia Gertrude Fuchssteiner, age 99 of New Glarus passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at the New Glarus Home.  She was born on April 10, 1924 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Benedikt and Hulda (Ewe) Roder.  Virginia grew up in Chicago and attended Taft High School.  She had worked for the Schwartzchild Company, Standard & Poors, and Wells Lamont until retiring in 1986.  She married Robert Fuchssteiner in 1989 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norwood Park, IL where Virginia had been a long-time member.  After her husband Robert died in 1995, Virginia moved to New Glarus, WI where she was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.

Virginia is survived by her nephew Allen Roder, niece Carolyn (Jim) Ziebert, great-nephew Joey (Becky) Ziebert and family, and little sister-in-heart Nancy Beckwith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, and siblings Benedict Roder, Florence Neuenschwander, Oscar Roder, Raymond Roder, and Dorothy Otiker.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Ave., New Glarus, WI.  Rev. Mark Renner will officiate.  Burial will be in Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace, IL.

A visitation will precede the funeral service from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home in New Glarus.
