Thank you God for giving us this man to love. On Saturday, February 20, 2010 Sylvan John Disch died peacefully at his home after a battle with cancer. He was born to John and Elizabeth (Hoesly) Disch on October 19, 1917 residing in Postville. His mother died in 1922 of tuberculosis leaving four young sons: Leman, Dad, Willis, & Doral. He was raised by his grandparents until the age of 16, at this time he farmed with his father in Primrose. Sylvan was baptized and confirmed at the United Church of Christ in New Glarus. He loved life and working hard. He was married to Vivian Klosterman on January 30, 1941at Blanchardville Evangelical Church. They celebrated 69 years of marriage this year! Sylvan and Vivian farmed their entire married life in Primrose on the family farm that was purchased from his father. His construction company was established in 1963 serving many area farmers with new or remodeled barns. Mom at his right hand would complete the company bookwork and help with farm chores. Many households have his and hers cars but they had his and hers tractors! He achieved many Berg Equipment salesmanship awards in the 1980's. In recent years Sylvan had much joy in knowing "his barn" was still being used. He believed in giving back to his community by his dedicated service of many terms on the Primrose Lutheran Church Council, and Building Committee, 18 years as Town Supervisor for the Primrose Township, 14 years on the Blanchardville Co-op Board, Bowers School Treasurer, and member of the Monroe Moose Lodge. Dad and Mom enjoyed traveling, dances, playing cards, and socializing. They loved having their grandchildren and great-grandchildren part of their lives. They have 10 grandchildren (one deceased) and 9 great-grandchildren.
