Zweifel
January 4, 1947 – February 12, 2024
Stephen Kent Zweifel, age 77 passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Agrace HospiceCare, Inc. in Janesville, WI surrounded by his three girls. He was born on January 4, 1947 in Madison the son of Arthur and Hazel (Jacobson) Zweifel. Steve graduated from New Glarus High School in 1965. In July of 1966 he entered into the United States Army and served at Fort Riley, Kansas until his discharge in July of 1968. On February 16, 1968 he was united in marriage to the love of his life Nancy Ferris at the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus. Steve worked at several car dealerships including his family owned Zweifel Motors, as both a mechanic and salesman for many years. After retirement he lived out his lifelong dream of living in Panama City Beach, Florida where he and Nancy resided until recently.
Steve is survived by his wife Nancy, daughters Stephanie Zweifel and Teresa (Dave) Wearing, and granddaughter Ella Wearing. He is further survived by his sisters Barbara Kay Bright (Dean Stamm) and Rita Ann (Jim) Schaub, nieces and nephews, and his Godson Stephen Haldiman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and best friend, his brother James Arthur Zweifel.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Jensena Carlson for all of the love and support she gave Steve over the years, as well as the amazing teams at UW Health Belleville, Agrace Hospice, and the VA for their dedication and care.
Steve further solidified his faith when he and Nancy were baptized in the Gulf of Mexico. We would like to also thank our Grace Church Family as well as the countless friends that prayed, called, visited, and sent well wishes.
Per Steve's request no formal services will be held, a private family celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is assisting the family.
