Ruth Marian Stillman, age 90, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at the New Glarus Home. She was born on June 2, 1923 to her parents Andrew and Elise Lien. Ruth attended the Meadow View and Farmer Schools and later graduated from Blanchardville High School in 1942. She then went on to attend the Madison Business College and began working as a secretary for the First National Bank in Madison. On June 5, 1948 Ruth was united in marriage to Robert Stillman. The couple then resided in Madison for the next twenty five years until moving to the rural Brooklyn area. Later after raising her children Ruth worked as a secretary for Rennebohm's drug store and as a checker at Piggly Wiggly earning Checker of the Year honors. First and foremost she was a wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. Her family and extended family were her friends they were all included for family gatherings. She loved to laugh which showed her great sense of humor. Ruth enjoyed dancing and she always made sure everyone had enough to eat and you did not leave hungry especially with her cookies and pies. Ruth is survived by her husband Robert of New Glarus, WI, children Patricia Evans of Oracle, AZ, Robert (Ellen) Stillman of Green Bay, WI, and Jayne (James) Campbell of Belleville, WI, grandchildren Curtis Grueneberg, Wendy Burtness, Brian Stillman, Erin Stillman, Preston Campbell, and Nikole Campbell, great-grandchildren Sarah (Yong) Sim, Dustin Wismer, and Andre Long, and a great-great-grandson Blake Sim. She is further survived by her siblings Ardell (Barb) Lien, Clair (Joanne) Lien, Inga Hanson, Gudrun (Delbert) Kundert, Gunvor Haesler, and Alice Voegeli. She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law James Evans, sisters Marie Henning and Olga Ommodt, a brother Ole Lien, brothers-in-law Raymond Hanson, William Haesler, Howard Voegeli, Bernard Ommodt, and a sister-in-law Elaine Lien. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the First United Church of Christ, 130 E. Church St., Belleville, WI with the Rev. Heide Walker Hackman officiating with burial in the Belleville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI. Memorials are suggested to the First United Church of Christ.
