Obituary

Ruth Ann Anderson, age 82 passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 at the Glarner Lodge in New Glarus. She was born on April 12, 1939 in Edgerton, WI the daughter of George and Marie (Stump) Legler. Ruth graduated from New Glarus High School in 1957. On June 8, 1958 she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart Thomas Anderson at the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus. Ruth began working for the Wisconsin DNR in 1966 and over the years with her dedication and customer service skills she was promoted to personnel specialist a title she held until her retirement in 1998.   While working she was also a dedicated mother to her children attending every school and sporting function as she was able. Ruth also enjoyed the outdoors; boating, camping, and fishing. Later Ruth and Tom would continue to travel in their motorhome and were part of the Bellringers. Ruth served on the Park Committee for the Town of Exeter and was a poll worker for elections for many years. She was also a dedicated member of the Swiss United Church of Christ and sang in the choir. Most of all Ruth loved to spend time with family and friends often including Sunday dinners followed by playing euchre.

Ruth is survived by her children Julie (David Kitzmann) Anderson, Pam Anderson, Michael (Sarah Yanko) Anderson, and Kay Anderson, grandchildren Thomas (Katie) Ahlstrom, Britt (Nick) Lampert, Tyler (Sydney) Ahlstrom, Steven (Shelby) Yaun, Jenelle (Eric) Murley, Nicole (Zac) Bochtler, Monica Yaun, and Joe Yaun, great-grandchildren Aria Marie, Delilah, August, Callum, Annika Kay, Lucia Ruth, Peter, Silas, and a great-granddaughter on the way, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom, and brothers Arthur G. Legler, Robert L. Legler, and Richard G. Legler.

A family visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the Swiss United Church of Christ, 18 Fifth Ave., New Glarus, WI. Pat Pluss will lead a graveside burial service at the Swiss Church Cemetery following the visitation.

The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is assisting the family.
