He was born on May 27, 1943 to Earl "Jack" and Wilma Pierce at their home in Magnolia Township, Rock County, Wisconsin.  Ron graduated from Evansville High School in 1961 (the only year you can turn your class ring upside down and it still says the same year-Ron loved often pointing this out.)  After graduating from Madison Business College in 1964 he enlisted in the U.S. Army.  He was in the Army Security Agency where he held a top security clearance.  Ron married Jane Willoughby on Dec. 27, 1964.  Soon thereafter he was assigned to the Army base outside Chitose, Japan.  Jane joined him there for three plus years.  Ron returned to Evansville where he worked in many positions in the area as accountant, financial director and comptroller.  Ron was a charter member of the Evansville Jaycees.  He held all local offices, a few regional offices and was State Treasurer for two years. While a member of the Jaycees he was instrumental in bringing country singers, Jim Ed Brown and Dolly Parton to Evansville for concerts.  He was a member of the Evansville American Legion where he served one year as Commander and is currently a member of the New Glarus American Legion.  Ron and Jane bought the Evansville Greenhouse and Floral in 1987.  They worked together in the business for 21 years. They moved to New Glarus in 2000.  Ron was influential in forming the New Glarus Youth Committee, it's mission was to support the youth of New Glarus through funding scholarships, school, and community programs.  He was treasurer of the New Glarus Music Festival that was held on Memorial Day and sponsored by the New Glarus Youth Committee.  Ron loved playing guitar, was an avid reader, a real trivia buff and a loyal Packers fan.  He is a Packers owner with Packers stock.
