Ronald Kittleson, of New Glarus, WI, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 5, 2026 at the age of 84. He was born on October 11, 1941 to parents Everett and Mabel (Hefty) Kittleson, and was raised on the family farm in Kittleson Valley, Mount Horeb. He graduated from Blanchardville High School in 1959. Ron was a proud veteran enlisting in the US Army in 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1966. Ron was known for his kind heart and gentle spirit. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome, whether they were lifelong friends, family members, or someone he had just met. His warmth, generosity, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Ron found happiness in life’s simple pleasures: talking and playing cards with friends, listening to music, and taking drives in the country. He was active in Swiss Church in New Glarus, having served on Consistory and the Property Committee. He took pride in the home he built in New Glarus where he and his partner & life companion, Rosalie Huntington, lived since 1993. One of Ron's greatest joys was music. He loved spending time with his guitar in hand, sharing songs, stories, and laughter with those around him. Ron later learned to play the fiddle and enjoyed playing at local fiddlers’ jam sessions. Music was not only a hobby but a way in which Ron connected with others and brought happiness to gatherings both large and small. He played in a band with his brother, Roger for many years, and in the original group “Country Four”. Ron especially cherished making music with his longtime companion, Rosalie. Together with Ron on guitar and Rosalie on accordion they created countless memorable moments, their harmony filling homes, celebrations, and community gatherings with music and friendship.
Ron is survived by his partner and love of his life, Rosalie Huntington, a daughter Pam Behnke, son Shawn (Tara) Kittleson, grandchildren Austin, Hayden, Lucas, Ella, Madilyn, and Caleb, brother Roger (Michele) Kittleson, sister Elizabeth (Hans) Heike. He is further survived by Rosalie’s daughters, Kris and Kathy.
He was preceded in death by his son Ryan Kittleson, father Everett, and mother Mabel.
The family wishes to express gratitude to all who offered friendship, care, and support to Ron throughout his life and to Agrace HospiceCare, Inc., whose nurses, nursing assistants, social workers, and others cheerfully provided support that extended Ron’s quality of life in his final days.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026 at the Swiss United Church of Christ, 18 Fifth Ave., New Glarus, WI with Pat Pluss officiating. Military honors will be accorded. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Union Grove Cemetery, Darlington, WI.
Ron will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, friendship, and music will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is assisting the family.
