Robert Lee Sholts, age 97 passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025 at his home. He was born on October 27, 1927 in Brooklyn, WI the son of Wayne and Laura (Herfel) Sholts. Bob attended Brooklyn schools and then began working on the farm with his father. Along with farming he also hauled can milk and cattle. Bob always had a fondness for mules and donkeys; he had used a pair to plow and even dug the basement for the farmhouse with them. On December 29, 1951 he was united in marriage to Helen Zurkirchen in New Glarus. After leaving the farm he first worked for Armour & Co. as a cattle buyer. Bob then began working as a salesman for Kubly-Richert in New Glarus and later Belleville Auto Sales from where he retired in 1985. Bob was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Belleville. In retirement Bob and Helen were snowbirds they would spend their summers in Belleville and winters in Mission, TX.
Bob is survived by his daughter Marilyn (David) Bollig, grandson Tyler (Danyelle) Bollig, great-grandchildren Paxley, Oaklynn, and Stetsyn, and special friend Aunt Rosie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Helen, son Steven, and an infant brother Clarence.
Per Robert's request no formal services will be held.
Memorials are suggested to the First United Church of Christ in Belleville.
The Becker-Beal Funeral Home of Belleville is assisting the family.
