Robert E. Mitchell, age 67, of Belleville passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018 after a long courageous battle with cancer at William S. Middleton VA Memorial Hospital in Madison. He was born on February 25, 1951 in Rockford, IL the son of Claude and Gretchen (Yelinek) Mitchell. Robert graduated from Dekalb High School in 1969 and then served in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam. After his military service he attended Northern Illinois University. On August 24, 1982 he was united in marriage to Kim Marie Onsager in Madison. Robert worked in building maintenance for many years. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with family and friends. Robert had a heart for helping people however he could.

Robert is survived by his wife Kim, sons Jesse Clark Jones and Dane Earl Mitchell, daughter Rachel Jean (Jerry) Walker, and grandchildren Christian, Naomi, and Jacob. He is further survived by his brothers David Mitchell and Bill Mitchell.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of Robert's life will be held at a later date in May.
