Robert E. Hanson

Robert E. Hanson, age 67 of Belleville, WI passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at UW Hospital in Madison after a courageous eight-month battle with cancer. He was born on July 17, 1959 in Savanna, IL a son of Earl and Francis (McCue) Hanson. Bob graduated from Savanna High School in 1977 and moved to Fitchburg, WI where he lived with his brother. Bob began working for Zimbrick Honda as a technician and he retired after forty-three years as a service writer at Zimbrick. On August 6, 1983 he was united in marriage to Cherie Stoikes in Verona. The couple lived and raised their family in Verona until moving to rural Belleville over 20 years ago. Bob and Cherie were inseparable for nearly fifty years; they enjoyed camping trips with their boys and friends along with traveling and exploring the back roads with the group on the Harley. Bob also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. In recent years he took delight in cooking; especially grilling and smoking meats with his dear friend Pat. He loved making people laugh and was the life of the party.

Bob is survived by his wife Cherie, sons Jeremy (Genna) and Jason (Kate), and grandchildren Jack, Miles, Keagan, Brantley, Ashton, and Emerson. He is further survived by his brothers Larry (Cheryl) Hanson and Wayne (Michelle) Hanson, nieces, nephews, father-in-law and mother-in-law Ralph & Maxine Stoikes, and Cherie’s siblings and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Kevin Hanson and Johnny Miller.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026 at Edelweiss Chalet Country Club, W4764 Edelweiss Rd., New Glarus, WI.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Bob’s niece Krista Hanson.
