Rita Baumgartner, age 92, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe. She was born on January 23, 1921 at Sparta, WI. Rita graduated from Sparta High School. On October 24, 1942 she was united in marriage to Herman Baumgartner at Sparta, WI. Rita farmed with her husband in the rural Belleville/New Glarus area for many years and was a homemaker and mother. She was a faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Belleville and the Catholic Women's Club. She also loved to care and tend her flower gardens. Rita is survived by her son Dean of Monroe, WI, a daughter-in-law Mary Shaw, a granddaughter Jill Ann Baumgartner, brothers Tony (Helen) Ruetten, Steve (Ella) Ruetten, Charles (Marie) Ruetten, sisters Veronica Weibel and Agnes Burnam, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Herman, sons Phillip and John, daughter-in-law Joan, sisters Sophie and religious Sister Faith. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 338 S. Harrison St., Belleville, WI with the Rev. Michael Moon and Rev. Kenneth Klink officiating with burial in the Belleville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 12:00 noon until time of service on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Belleville.
