Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Richard 'Dick' Solberg on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at the age of 70.  A father, son, brother, uncle and friend to so many, Dick will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dick was born on October 10, 1954 in Dodgeville, WI, the son of John and Arlene (Schaller) Solberg.  He was the fifth of eight children and grew up in the small unincorporated town of Paoli, WI.  Dick graduated from the Belleville High School in 1972.  He began his trucking career driving for over 25 years for ABF Freight.  Upon retirement in 2010 he drove 'part time' for Marshall Brothers and Hanna Ag.

Outside of work, Dick found joy in times spent outdoors and his hobbies included hunting, fishing and snowmobiling.  Dick also enjoyed regular breakfasts at Farm 42 with Frank and the girls and the Thursday morning safety meetings at the Kwik Trip in Belleville.  Dick possessed an ability to connect with people and made friends wherever he went.  He touched the lives of so many with his humor, outgoing personality and had a generous and kind spirit that was always willing to help friends and family.

Dick had a strong faith in God.  He attended Saturday mass at the Catholic Church in Oregon.  His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him and were lucky enough to know him.  To know Dick was to love him.

Dick is survived by his son, Scott Solberg, grandson Quinton, siblings Dennis (Myra) Solberg, Michael (Lucy) Solberg, Patricia (Ron) Rieder, Terry (Cheryl) Solberg, Cynthia (Steve) Bucierka and Donald (Pam) Solberg; along with many nieces and nephews.  Dick was preceded in death by his parents, John and Arlene Solberg, brother Thomas Solberg and special niece, Jessica Hayes.

A Celebration of Life service to honor the life of Dick Solberg will be held on Sunday, June 29th, 2025, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Montrose Town Hall, 1341 Diane Ave., Belleville, WI.

The Becker-Beal Funeral Home of Belleville is assisting the family.
