Richard Ernest Oppliger, age 61, of Belleville passed away on Friday, December 18, 2015 at his home. He was born on April 18, 1954 at Monroe, WI to his parents Paul and Patricia (Freitag) Oppliger. Richard graduated from New Glarus High School in 1973. Following high school he worked as a farmhand and also drove truck for many years. Richard had raced stock cars and was an avid racing fan. He was also a Badger fan through and through.

He is survived by his siblings Nancy (Bob) Oppliger-Betts, Mary (Jerry) O'Brien, Donald Oppliger, and Theresa Oppliger, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Ave., New Glarus, WI with the Rev. Sara Rabe officiating with inurnment in the Swiss Church Cemetery.

A gathering of relatives and friends will be held from 12:00 noon until time of services on Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home in New Glarus.
