IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Raymond J.
Lamboley
September 14, 1933 – October 9, 2025
Raymond J. Lamboley passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025. He was born at home on the family farm on September 14, 1933, the fourth child of Arthur C. and Anna (Disch) Lamboley. Ray graduated from Belleville High School class of 1951. In his younger days, he had a pet skunk and a pet crow. He and his father spent time up north with the Gehin family doing some hunting and a lot of fishing. His favorite thing to hunt was rabbits, but he did deer hunt with his kids and grandkids. In May of 1953 he met his future wife at a dance at Turner Hall in Madison. Dad always told us he "saw her across the room and told his friends there with him that she was the woman he was going to marry." On February 27, 1954, Dad married that woman, Ethel Mae Esser of Glen Haven WI. Mom on the other hand, always said she "moved to Madison so she could meet someone who wasn't a farmer, as she wasn't going to marry a farmer." We all know how that worked out.... Ray farmed alongside his father Art and Uncle Joey until their passing, then continued with his wife and family. After retiring from farming and moving into Belleville, Ray worked for UW Housing, then on to UW Maintenance Mechanic, Plant Engineering from which he retired. He is a charter and life member of Belleville Area EMS where he was a 31-year Volunteer EMT. He served as a Village Trustee on the Belleville Village Board, and RSVP driver for the Sugar River Senior Center. He was also involved with Fishing Has No Boundaries, Madison Chapter for 20 years helping as an EMT to take physically challenged individuals out fishing. Ray received the Volunteer of the Year Award for the State of Wisconsin from the National Office of Fishing Has No Boundaries. Ray and Ethel went dancing every opportunity all their lives as long as their health permitted. Ray and Ethel enjoyed many years of the farming neighborhoods monthly traveling card games, bowling, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Ray is survived by his wife of 71years, Ethel, children, Tom, Debbie (Rick) Bongard, Jim (Faye), David (Coleen), and Brian (Maria) Lamboley all of Belleville. Grandchildren, Jeff and Becky Lamboley, Kyle Bongard, Laura Lamboley (Kyle Mercer), Alexis and Macy Lamboley. Great grandchildren Carter and Elena Bongard, and Liam and Emma Lamboley, Ethel's brother Henry (Buzz) Esser of Bagley, WI, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Anna Lamboley, stillborn brother Paul, sisters and brothers-in-law Mary (Bob) Berger and Helen (Ted) Woodruff and nephew John Berger. Ethel's parents Carl and Genevieve Esser, sisters and brother-in-law Mary Esser, Joyce (Ken) Kluesner, and Connie Esser.
