Peter F. Hofbauer, age 62, formerly of Waunakee passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at UW Hospital in Madison. He was born on April 16, 1950 in Germany to his parents Franz and Ruth (Altmann) Hofbauer. Peter emigrated to the U.S. with his parents where they then farmed in the Town of Primrose. Following high school he served in the military and then attended college. Later Peter worked as a research scientist at Oscar Mayer for many years. Peter is survived by an Aunt Clara, cousins, nieces, and nephews in Germany, and friends Dennis and Lynne Jelle. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother David. A gathering of friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Ave., New Glarus, WI 53574. Inurnment will be in the family plot at the Primrose West Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
