Paul C. Ziehli, age 88, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison due to complications of COVID surrounded by his family. He was born on March 13, 1935 the son of Ernest and Priska (Wyttenbach) Ziehli at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. Paul grew up in Belleville and graduated from Belleville High School in 1953. He would then serve in the United States Army on Active Duty for two years and then in the Reserves until retiring as a First Seargent after 30 years of service to his country. On August 18, 1956 he was united in marriage to Rosemary Linden at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in Belleville. This was the first wedding in the new church. Paul worked as a supervisor for the Dane County Highway Department. He also was a beekeeper for 60 years and started Clover Hills Honey in addition to his woodworking hobby. Paul was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and served on the church council. He also served on the Belleville Village Board and as Village President. Most of all he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his family, he had a special place in his heart for his beloved cat Boss.
Paul is survived by his wife Rosemary, children Andy (Joyce) Ziehli, Becki Feller, Dan (Diane) Ziehli, and Heidi (Todd) McSherry. He is further survived by his grandchildren Jacob Ziehli, Peter Ziehli, Savannah (Adam) Hayes, Shelbe (Dan) Retallick, and Lexi McSherry, three great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Gertrude Busser and Ona Riggin, son-in-law Rick Feller, two infant brothers, and two infant sisters.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 338 S. Harrison St., Belleville, WI.
A private Mass of Christian burial will follow with burial with full military honors in the Belleville Cemetery.
The Becker-Beal Funeral Home of Belleville is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Belleville Food Pantry.
