Paul Wieland, age 82, went to be with his heavenly father on February 21, 2026 after battling Parkinson's Disease and heart disease.  Paul was born on July 6, 1943, the son of Ernest & Ellen (Held) Wieland and grew up in New Glarus on the Green Prairie and later Farmers' Grove Cheese Factory.  He graduated from New Glarus High School in 1961.  Paul attended UW-Madison and graduated as an Electrical Engineer in 1966.  He was drafted into the Army and served from 1966-1968 as SPEC-5 at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico.  After graduation and his service in the Army, he worked for WPL, Alliant, and ATC as a CAD Tech, retiring in 2005.  He was united in marriage to Rosemarie (Kaeser) Wieland on July 16, 1983 at Salem United Church of Christ, Verona, Wisconsin.

Paul loved music and learned to play his father's accordion at age 8.  As years went on, he played in various bands, including the UW-Madison marching band which appeared in the 1963 Rose Bowl, the Alpine Troubadours, the Alpine Brass, and Monona Rhythm Band.

Paul enjoyed traveling to Switzerland, and with a trip to Delaware in 2024, he accomplished his bucket list of having visited all 50 states.  Other interests included reading, biking, astronomy and being with friends and family.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Rosemarie (Rose) Wieland, his brother Rudy Wieland, who was also his best friend, sister-in-law Marilyn (Maughan) Wieland, nieces Heidi (Steve Hutto) Wieland and Heather (Stu Schrader) Wieland and grandnieces Sami, Calista and Sophia.  He is further survived by his brothers-in-law John (Pattie) Kaeser, Walter (Wendy Statz) Kaeser and sister-in-law Heidi Kaeser Buttchen, nieces Jessie (Dan Youngquist) Kaeser, Suzie (Micah) Daugherty, Alicia (Jeff) Anderson, Nicole (Scott) Ziegler, Shannon (Tony) Conlin, Nicole (Chris) Spicer, Hannah (Steve) Raasch, grandnephews Liam and Jaxon; grandnieces Madison, Nora, Reese, Noelle, Emily, Caroline, Eliza, Brook, and Stella along with many friends and relatives.  He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest & Ellen Wieland, his in-laws Fritz & Rose Kaeser, and his brother-in-law Jeff Buttchen.

A memorial service for friends and family will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Salem United Church of Christ, 502 Mark Dr., Verona, WI with Rev. Phil Hobson officiating.
