Olga Elsbeth Hess, age 96, of New Glarus passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the New Glarus Home. She was born on January 10, 1918 to her parents Fred and Magdalena (Krieg) Voegeli in the Town of New Glarus. Olga attended the Pioneer School. In 1939 she was first united in marriage to Arol Berge at the Swiss Church in New Glarus. Following Arol's passing in 1948 she then married Wilbert Hess in 1952 also at the Swiss Church in New Glarus. Olga was a mother, homemaker, and farm wife. She was a member of the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus. Olga is survived by her daughter Karen (Marvin) Nelson of Janesville, WI, four grandchildren Tammy (Dan) Steinke of Fort Atkinson, WI, Tanya (special friend Mike) Skillman of Janesville, WI, Tanelle Nelson of Janesville, WI and Wade (Dawn) Nelson of Beloit, WI, five great-grandchildren Amber (special friend Adam) and Nichole Skillman, Kailey and Evan Nelson, and Logan Schuh, and two great-great grandchildren Ariana and Aidan. She is further survived by a brother-in-law Otto Hess of Long Beach, CA and sister-in-law Florence Voegeli of New Glarus, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Arol and Wilbert, and a brother Earl Voegeli. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Swiss United Church of Christ, 18 Fifth Avenue, New Glarus, WI with the Rev. William Wineke officiating with burial in the Swiss Church Cemetery, New Glarus, WI. Relatives and friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until time of services on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus.
