Minerva L. Ott, age 86, of New Glarus passed away on Friday, November 30, 2012 at the New Glarus Home. She was born on May 1, 1926 in Blanchardville to her parents Joseph and Tilda (Peterson) Johnson. Minerva graduated with the class of 1944 from Blanchardville High School. On November 25, 1945 she was united in marriage to her husband Elmon "Pete" Ott. Minerva was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus. Minerva enjoyed her time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a very sharp card player who also enjoyed her occasional trips to the casino. Minerva is survived by her daughters Jo Ellen (Ken) Schaefer of Wausau, WI and Laurie (Malcolm) Austin of Belleville, WI; grandchildren Eric (Amy) Schaefer of Chicago, IL, Erin (Garret) Newkirk of Germantown, WI, and Noelle Austin of Belleville, WI; and great-grandchildren Audra, Trevor, and Reid Newkirk. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmon, brothers Vivian Johnson and Lloyd Johnson, sisters Anna Schneider, Jeannette Smith, and Ruth Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at the Swiss United Church of Christ, 18 Fifth Avenue, New Glarus, WI with the Rev. Craig Jan-McMahon officiating with burial in the Swiss Church Cemetery. Relatives and Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Ave., New Glarus, WI.
