Mary Ann Schuett-Chambers, age 65, of Monticello passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 unexpectedly at her home. She was born on March 10, 1946 to John and Anna Verena (Zimmerman) Frick at Dodgeville, WI. Mary Ann graduated from New Glarus High School in 1964 and lived there most of her life. On August 20, 1966 she was united in marriage to her first husband Gregory James Schuett at the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus. Mary Ann attended beauty school in Madison and worked in several beauty salons in the area until operating her own shop the Schatzi Coiffeur for twenty years. Following the death of her husband Gregg in 1989 Mary Ann worked for WPS for seven years. It was during this time Mary Ann met Fred Chambers and the couple were married on February 4, 1999 at Portage, WI. The couple resided in Poynette, WI until retiring to Ponca City, OK. After Fred passed away in 2005 Mary Ann moved back to Monticello, WI to be nearer her family. Mary Ann was always very active in her children's and grandchildren's lives and activities, attending sporting events, providing apples and Gatorade for the baseball team, PTA secretary, Cub Scout Treasurer, or fill in card player. She was also a great collector or as others said a "Pack Rat." Mary Ann collected Angels, pens, pencils, humming birds, cigarette lighters, stuffed-singing animals, jewelry, and antiques. Mary Ann is survived by her son D.J. (Kate) Schuett, her grandchildren the three little D's Darris, Drew, and Declan, step-children Gail Hentges, Misty Chambers, and Claude Chambers, step-grandchildren Alex, Destiny, Angeline, Amanda, Shawn, Kari, Clinton, Colton, and Harlan, brother Joe (Charlene) Frick, sisters-in-law June Frick and Jeanne (Alan) Freitag, nephews Dave and Dan, nieces Brenda, Barb, Brooke, Toni, T, Susie, and Madeline, special great-nephew Zach, special friends Mike (Jacque) Hughes and their children Autumn and Danielle, and her beloved animal friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Jacob Durst, husband Gregg, son A.J., husband Fred, a brother John, uncle and aunt John (Marian) Zimmerman, and step-grandson Zach. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 27, 2012 at the Swiss United Church of Christ, 18 Fifth Avenue, New Glarus, WI with the Rev. Todd Hackman officiating with burial in the Swiss Church Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Avenue, New Glarus, WI. A memorial fund has been established.
