Mary J. Mussehl, age 88 passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at her home.  She was born on March 27, 1937 in Dodgeville, WI the daughter of Claire and Gladys (Hanson) Thorison.  Mary graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1955.  On July 9, 1956 she was united in marriage to Donald Mussehl at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mineral Point, and the couple would move to Belleville in 1960 where they raised their family.  Mary worked at Nicolet Instruments in Madison for twenty-five years, retiring in 1999.  She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Belleville.  Mary enjoyed spending time at their second home the "Back Forty" near Necedah, WI.  She touched the lives of all who knew her with her caring spirit, her loving heart and a gentle smile that never seemed to leave her face.

Mary is survived by her nine children Mark (Susan) Mussehl, Daniel (Melissa) Mussehl, Michelle (Pete) Petersen, Randy (Angela) Mussehl, Craig (Denise) Mussehl, Rodney (Melissa Anderson) Mussehl, Ronald (Jennifer) Mussehl, Christopher (Debra) Mussehl, and Donny (Michelle) Mussehl, seventeen grandchildren Cody, Ben, Andrew, Kari, Cassidy, Ross, Kash, Brooke, Paige, Kendra, Hunter, Rylie, Kenyon, Amelia, Owen, Matthew, and Mitchell, ten great-grandchildren Carter, Emmett, Kaygan, Kenna, Royce, Bree, Annabelle, Miley, Quinn, and Cooper, and two great-grandchildren on the way.  She is further survived by a sister-in-law Willie Mae Mussehl, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, brother Claire "Sonny" (Billie) Thorison, Jr., sisters Lois (Elmo) Vial and Dorothy (Albert "Foggy") Noble, an infant grandson, an infant great-granddaughter, father-in-law and mother-in-law Stanley & Helen Mussehl, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary Jo & Mick McDermott, and a brother-in-law Robert Mussehl.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 338 S. Harrison St., Belleville, WI.  Inurnment will follow at St. Raphael's Frenchtown Cemetery, Belleville, WI.

A celebration of Mary's life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Sugar River Lanes, 807 River St., Belleville, WI after the mass and inurnment at the cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Agrace HospiceCare, Inc. especially Naomi, Jessica, and Megan for the kind and compassionate care given to Mary.
