Marie Braun (Stuckey) Reuter, age 96 passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Agrace HospiceCare, Inc. in Fitchburg.  She was born on June 1, 1928 in Belvidere, TN the daughter of Rev. Walter and Mayme (Braun) Stuckey.  Marie spent her grade school years in LaCrosse, WI and after her father had become the minister at the Evangelical and Reformed Church in New Glarus (now Swiss United Church of Christ) she graduated from New Glarus High School.  In high school Marie was active in the music program both chorus and band as well as being the Prom Queen.  She would continue her education in Music at Mission House (now Lakeland College).  On October 3, 1948 she was united in marriage to Russell Reuter in a service officiated by her father at Swiss Church in New Glarus.  Marie had worked at the telephone exchange, the Ford garage, haying on the farm, in the office at Disch Hardware, and as a guide at the Chalet of the Golden Fleece.  She was a member of the Swiss United Church of Christ, where she sang in the choir for over 64 years with many of them as choir director.  Marie enjoyed camping and fishing; many fond memories were made at Snuffy's Campground on the Wisconsin River.  She enjoyed collecting lighthouse memorabilia, playing cards, word searches, and listening to music.

Marie is survived by her husband of seventy-five years Russ, children Tom Reuter, Margaret (Dave) Benson, Lynne (Duane) Hustad, Nancy (Tom) Marty, and Dan Reuter, sixteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.  She is further survived by a sister Ruth Kundert, sister-in-law Sandra Frontzak, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law Clarence & Adeline Reuter, brothers Paul (Maria) Stuckey and Robert (Martha) Stuckey, sister Dorothy (Arnold) Kehrli, brothers-in-law Sylvan Kundert and George Frontzak, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Stan and Donna Rupnow.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at the Swiss United Church of Christ, 18 Fifth Ave., New Glarus, WI with Rev. Pat Pluss officiating.

A gathering will precede the memorial service from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus.

The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is assisting the family.

A memorial fund has been established.
