Marian J.
Hustad
August 19, 1929 – April 17, 2024
Marian J. Hustad passed away at the Monroe Hospital on April 17th surrounded by her loving family. The second of four children, she was born on August 19, 1929 at her family's rural New Glarus farm to Henry and Martha (Hanson) Elmer. She attended New Glarus schools and then continued on to help with the family farm. She also enjoyed some part time jobs at Swiss Colony, Strickler's and especially cooking at Swiss Lanes Restaurant. Marian was a member of Swiss Church.
She met Eldon and they were united in marriage on March 18, 1948. Together they farmed on Hustad Valley Road until their retirement in 1986. They were blessed with 6 children and they loved spending time with them and their kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Eldon passed away in 2003 and Marian left the farm a few years later and moved into town.
Marian enjoyed bowling, baking, homemaking and following everything her family participated in including basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, hockey and soccer. She was a Badger and Packer fan and especially loved her trips to the casino and dog track with sister Linda and her husband Gene Duffy.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eldon, sisters Linda (Gene) Duffy and Lorraine (Phil) Hustad and brother Harland Elmer. She was also preceded in death by sons-in-law Gary Klassy and Michael Clark. Eldon's 9 siblings also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her 6 children Barbara Clark, Steve (Terrie) Hustad, Kenny Hustad, Diane Klassy, Jeannette (Stan) Jorenby and Roger (Lori) Hustad. She is further survived by grandchildren Channing Clark, Jeremy (Lindsy) Clark, Jamie (Joel) Grant, Kim (Dave) Indergand, Chris Klassy, Scott (Alysha) Klassy, Tera, Tim (Alyssa Jelle), Todd (Sarah) Hustad, Heather (Brent) Dammen and Dylan (Mikayla Hanson) Hustad. Surviving her are two step-grandchildren Eric (Elise) Jorenby and Alex (Katarina) Jorenby. She is further survived by 18 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Dorothy Hustad and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at the Swiss United Church of Christ, 18 Fifth Ave., New Glarus, WI with Pat Pluss officiating. Burial will be in the Swiss Church Cemetery.
A visitation will precede the funeral service from 9:00 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus.
