Maria Janet Gray, age 83 passed away at her home near Albany, WI on July 1, 2024.  She was born on August 2, 1941 in Bánréve, Hungary the daughter of Lazlo and Zanet Horvath.  Maria and her family moved to Iceland to escape from the ravages of World War II.  As a teenager in Iceland Maria was recognized for her skill and speed in fileting fish.   In her early 20's Maria emigrated to Wisconsin.  In Wisconsin, she would meet and marry William Lee Gray, Jr.  Maria worked at Swiss Colony in Madison for a short time and then worked at Berntsen Brass & Aluminum Foundry until retiring at the age of 65.  Maria developed a great work ethic early on, and she touched the hearts of all that knew her.  She was a loving wife, mother, and aunt.

Maria is survived by her daughter Victoria (John) Clark.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William Gray, sister Elizabeth, twin brother Attila, and a niece Iza.

A gathering of relatives and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI.

A time of remembrance will conclude the gathering at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home in Belleville.
