Luella E. Hying, age 87 passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Four Winds Lodge in Verona.  She was born on March 15, 1938 in Dodgeville, WI the daughter of Harold and Mary (McKillip) Berg.  Luella graduated from Oregon High School in 1957.  Luella first married James Bongard and later divorced.  On June 26, 1976 she was united in marriage to LaVern Hying in Madison.  Luella worked for the State of Wisconsin, Pleasant Company, and then retired from the Columbia County Health Care Center in Wyocena in 2004.  She enjoyed listening to old-time country music.  Luella had been a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Pardeeville prior to moving to the Belleville/Verona area.

Luella is survived by her husband LaVern, sons Rick (Debbie) Bongard, Mike Bongard, Duane (Kay) Bongard, and Andrew Hying, four grandchildren Travis (Chelsea), Kyle, Dylan (Nikkoleen), and Lori Ann, nine great-grandchildren, and a great-grandson on the way.  She is further survived by her sisters Anna Mae Johnson, Mavis Czarnezki, and Donna Moran, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Betty Jean and Joseph Lawrence in childhood, sister and brother-in-law Arlene & Darrell "Bud" Skinner, and brothers-in-law Wesley Johnson, Charles Czarnezki, and Robert Moran.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI.

Relatives and friends will gather from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to the memorial service on Monday, May 19, 2025 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home in Belleville.
