Ludwig Meinzer, age 90 passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at the New Glarus Home.  He was born on December 25, 1935 in Chicago, IL the son of Ludwig and Erna (Roth) Meinzer, German immigrants.  Ludwig would graduate from Lake View High School in Chicago in 1954 where he had been part of the Jr. ROTC program and was an accomplished shooter on the rifle team.  He would continue his education at Northwestern University graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree 1957 with honors in German and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.  Louie was a very educated man who was fluent in both German and French.  He would go on to work as an advisor for the Social Security Administration in Chicago for many years until retiring to New Glarus. Louie resided on the New Glarus Home Campus for over twenty-five years.  He enjoyed traveling and exploring the State of Wisconsin using the extensive collection of road maps carried in his car throughout his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his father Ludwig in 1954 and his mother Erna in 1956.
