Leona Huseth, age 95 of Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin passed away peacefully surrounded by her children at Ingleside Nursing Home in Mt. Horeb on August 17, 2010. She was born May 16, 1915 in Washington Township, Green County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Matt and Anna (Arnold) Marty. She was very proud of her Swiss heritage. Leona attended the Voegeli School. Leona Marty married Glenn Huseth on November 25, 1935 at New Glarus, Wisconsin. They raised three children, Sally (Robert) Stuessy, Ron (Audrey) Huseth, and Christine (Tom Cork) Brager. Leona and Glenn resided in Mt. Horeb and became members of East Blue Mounds Lutheran Church in 1935, and then when it closed in 1964, they became members of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mt. Horeb. She worked at Stauffer's cheese for several years in Blue Mounds, WI. Leona attended a special program where she became a laboratory technician at Sprague Dawley from where she retired in 1979. Leona had a passion for dancing, and especially loved dancing to polka music. She also was an excellent cook and loved making cookies for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children and her sisters Clara Nybroten and Gloria (Bob) Jacobson, sisters-in-law Melba Huseth and Grace Marty, grandchildren William (Sherrie) Stuessy, Samuel (Maria) Stuessy, Renee (Jerry) Tordoff, Linda (Robin) Stuessy-Vidas, Ronelle (Steve) Aime, Joan (Walter Barger) Stuessy, Wade (Amy) Huseth, Ward (Susie) Huseth, as well as 18 great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Leona is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Glenn, who passed away in 1974, in addition to her parents Anna and Matthias Marty, and her siblings Violet (Murl) Cliff, Palma (Clifford) Mueller-Fahey, Arnold (Mamie) Marty, and Leon Marty, brothers-in-law Glenn Nybroten, Kenneth Huseth, and Robert Fahey, sister-in-law Helen (Paul) Hefty, and a son-in-law Robert Stuessy. Funeral services will be held on at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mt. Horeb, 315 E. Main St., Mt. Horeb, WI with the Rev. John Twiton officiating with burial in the Mt. Horeb Union Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Horeb. The Becker-Beal Funeral Home of Belleville is serving the family. The family would like to thank the staff at Ingleside for their compassionate care over the last several years.
