Kurt Douglas Duerst, age 53, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2016. He was born on August 26, 1962 at the Edgerton Memorial Hospital in Edgerton, WI to his parents Harlen and Dawn (Geske) Duerst. Kurt graduated from New Glarus High School in 1980 and then farmed and worked at Nicolet Instruments and Gilson's.

Kurt is survived by his daughters Mallory and Carley Duerst, parents Harlen and Dawn Duerst of New Glarus, WI, brothers Todd (Nita) Duerst and Randy Duerst both of New Glarus, nieces and nephews Keith (Jayme), Dacy, TJ, Dane, and Devi Duerst. He is further survived by his aunts Erma Curtis of Madison, WI, Audrey (Edwin) Saxer of Monticello, WI, Valerie Payne of Janesville, WI, Lawanna (Nels) Quam of Edgerton, WI, and Michelle (Herbert) Krapf of Oregon, WI, and an uncle Kevlin Geske of Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

A private family graveside service will be held.

The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is assisting the family.
