Kenneth W. Dieckhoff, age 93, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Janesville. He was born on February 15, 1922 in Juda, WI to his parents William and Grace (Baltzer) Dieckhoff. Kenneth graduated from Monroe High School in 1941 and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving aboard a LST in the Pacific Theater during WWII. On April 8, 1944 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Jacobson at York Memorial Lutheran Church. Following his discharge from the Navy in 1945 he worked for the Monroe Dairy and then farmed in the rural Blanchardville/Argyle area. Later Kenneth worked for Disch Hardware and then Kempfer Plumbing and Heating in New Glarus. He was a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in New Glarus. Kenneth is survived by his sons Steve (Linda K.) Dieckhoff of Hollandale, WI and Duane (Linda L.) Dieckhoff of Cambridge, WI, daughters Sue (Richard) Busch of Beloit, WI and LuAnn (Dale) Weidenfeller of Janesville, WI, ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. He is further survived by a sister Marian Kerr of Janesville, WI and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Evelyn, stepfather Herman Dieckhoff, sister Thelma Shager, and a brother Willis Dieckhoff. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 506 Twelfth Ave., New Glarus, WI with the Rev. Gene Talley officiating with burial in the Swiss Church Cemetery, New Glarus, WI. Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Ave., New Glarus, WI and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in New Glarus. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staffs of Our House Assisted Living, Cedar Crest Assisted Living and Health Care Center, and St. Mary's Hospital of Janesville. A memorial fund has been established.
