John Franklin Newell passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday July 31, 2013. John was born June 23, 1922 in DeKalb, Mississippi to Sallie and Arch Newell. John lived a fulfilled life that included 38 years of dedicated service in the US Army, Army Reserves, Air National Guard and a Decorated World War II Veteran in Communications. He retired from the United States Air Force Reserve as a decorated Master Sergeant. John had a long career working with Carnes Corporation, Verona, WI where he holds 7 Engineering Patents and Federal Industries, Belleville, WI. He was a member of VFW Post 8653, American Legion 385, Verona, WI as well as a Mason, Zor Shriner, Arab Patrol and a beloved life member of the Chapter H Goldwing Road Riders Association of which he will be dearly missed. John is survived by his wife Marcella "Mark" Newell, six children, David Dodge, Dee (Mick) Byrnes, Judy (Craig) Larson, Kathy (Scott) Schoenick, LaDelta (Steve) VanderWegen and Sue Ann (Carl) Rodgers, 12 Grandchildren, Monique (Matt) Hicks, Nick (Madelyne) Larson, Randi Blair, Megan (Chris) Olson, Shannon (Ben) Prosch, Brittany Byrnes, Carissa Schoenick, John Schoenick, Madeline Schoenick, Regina Breese, Tamara Hawkin, and David (Kelly) Vankstan, and 14 Great Grandchildren with 1 arriving in November. John is preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Sallie and Arch Newell, brother Jim Newell, Sister Hazel Meadows and son Richard. The family wishes to thank Dr. Stephen W. Olcott, Hospice Agrace and Beal funeral Homes for their kind support. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI with the Minister Randi Blair officiating with burial in the Belleville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home in Belleville, WI with a Masonic service at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the John Newell Memorial Fund.
