John D. Christoffel, age 74, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012 surrounded by his loving family at Agrace HospiceCare, Inc. in Fitchburg. He was born on November 25, 1937 at Two Rivers, WI the son of Clarence and Beatrice (Gehrke) Christoffel. John graduated from Washington High School in Two Rivers, WI. Following high school John served in the United States Navy. On May 2, 1959 he was united in marriage to Katie Neuenberger at Two Rivers, WI. John also graduated from the Milwaukee Institute of Technology and Concordia University. John worked in Law Enforcement and served for five years as Police Chief in New Glarus. He also worked as an AODA counselor and municipal judge. John was a member of Grace Church in New Glarus. John is survived by his wife Katie of New Glarus, WI, two sons Michael (Margaret) Christoffel of Verona, WI and Robert (Lana) Christoffel of Colfax, WI, two daughters Cynthia (Ron) Neusen of Madison, WI and Karen (Jim) Parker of Mt. Horeb, WI, eleven grandchildren, and a sister Janice (Robert) Jump of Oshkosh, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Grace Church, 416 Second St., New Glarus, WI with Pastor Michael Beil officiating.
