Joan Donovan, age 89, passed away February 19, 2025, in Madison, Wis. She was born and raised in Belleville, Wis.  She was born on January 8, 1936, the daughter of Julian C. and Clara (Naef) Francois and graduated from Belleville High School in 1954. In 1961, Joan married Gerald Donovan. The couple had three children: Steve, Dan, and Joe. Jerry was a dentist in Belleville, and Joan worked alongside him for many years.   Joan enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, and cooking. While petite in stature, Joan exuded an oversized love for all, along with a quiet grace and deep kindness. Many will remember her friendly smile as they made a trip to the dentist.

Joan is survived by a brother, Raymond (Corrine) Francois, and a sister, Lois (Mike) Steckelis and three sons, Steve (Ann) of Monona, Wis.; Dan of Vancouver, Wash.; and Joe (Leah) of Wauwatosa, Wis. She is further survived by grandchildren Nate, Logan, Alissa, Nolan, Julian, Layne, Neave, and Tighe.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Richard, Paul, David, and Carlton.

A private family memorial will be scheduled at a later date.
