IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jeffrey O.
Van Stelle
January 24, 1953 – September 7, 2016
Jeffrey Orville Van Stelle of Belleville Wisconsin was born January 24, 1953 in Missouri on the Fort Leonard Wood Army Base and lost his life to cancer at age 63 on September 7, 2016 in Madison, Wisconsin.
Raised in Sheboygan, Jeff graduated from Sheboygan South High School in 1971 and served in the United States Army from 1972-1974, stationed in Germany. He moved to Madison in 1974 and was employed by the University of WI Department of Laboratory Animal Care for more than 20 years before spending the rest of his career with Harlan Sprague Dawley and Envigo.
Jeff and his wife Susan Holy of 33 years were married in March 19, 1983. Together Jeff and Sue enjoyed blue grass music, vintage cars, horseshoes, animals, fishing, and camping. Jeff could always be recognized for his signature engineer cap and ponytail, and adventure seemed to follow him wherever he went.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife Sue Holy of Belleville, his parents Harold and Joyce Van Stelle of Waunakee, his brother Scott Hubbard-Van Stelle (Robin) of Middleton, his sister Kit Van Stelle (John McElrath) of Waunakee, his nieces Lindsay Braxler (John), Kelsey Vandersteen (Rob), and Chandler McElrath, and his great-nieces Joyanna Braxler and Leah Vandersteen. He is also survived by many friends who shared so much laughter with Jeff over the years, especially his horseshoe buddies who spent countless Thursdays throwing shoes and talking smart.
Jeff was a devoted and loyal husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, and could always be counted on to help someone in need. Jeff will be missed so much by all of us.
A remembrance service for Jeff will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI with Rev. Sara Rabe officiating with military honors following.
A gathering of relatives and friends will precede the service from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home in Belleville.
