Jean Delores Rufenacht, age 85, of New Glarus passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the Glarner Lodge Assisted Living. She was born on October 4, 1930 near Argyle, WI to her parents George and Clara (Smith) Walden. Jean graduated from Blanchardville High School and was proud to have been a cheerleader. On September 12, 1948 she was united in marriage at the Argyle Lutheran Church to Donald Rufenacht after first meeting him on a blind date on April Fool's Day. Jean was a homemaker and mother. She served as a Cub Scout leader and classroom mother while her children were growing up. Jean was an avid bridge player, took pride in maintaining her lawn and landscape, cooking holiday meals, loved old country music, and followed the Brewers and Packers. Jean and Don enjoyed traveling and also liked to discover out of the way places for breakfast. Jean is survived by her children Larry Rufenacht, Sheryl (Dave Richert) Patzer-Richert, and Teri (Brian) Teclaw, grandchildren Calyn (Martin) Ostrowski, Alecia (Scott) Luzi, Dean Patzer, Chase Patzer, Tynille Rufenacht, Tyler (Audrey) Rufenacht, and Aliah Teclaw, and great-grandchildren Saraya Ostrowski, Benedict Ostrowski, and Gwendolyn Rufenacht. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, and brothers Vernus Walden and Harlen Walden. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Ave., New Glarus, WI with the Rev. William Wineke officiating with burial in the Swiss Church Cemetery, New Glarus. Relatives and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home in New Glarus.
