Janet Ann (Vondra) Hardyman, age 49, of Belleville, passed away on March 26, 2010 after her battle with cancer. She was born Dec. 9,1960, the daughter of Kenneth and Mary Marcene (Smith) Vondra of Belmont. Janet graduated from Belmont High School in 1979. She attended UW- Platteville, graduating with a degree in Business Communications in 1984. Janet was united in marriage to Richard Frank Hardyman, son of Diane and Michael Hardyman, on Oct. 27th, 1984 at St. Philomena Church in Belmont. With Richard serving in the Army as an officer, they spent time living and traveling in Germany, Georgia, North Carolina, Arizona and Alabama. After returning to Wisconsin to live, Janet devoted her life to caring not only for her own children, but also to the children of others. She worked as a substitute teacher for the Belleville School District, taught Sunday School for St. Mary's Catholic Church, and coached youth soccer. Janet had a gift for working with children that had special needs and she served as a Special Olympics coach/agency manager, and also as a support broker for children with disabilities. If Janet saw a need in the school or community she tried to fill the need. She served as a Village board member, St. Mary of Lourdes board member, Middle School yearbook editor and Gaming Club volunteer supervisor. She also was the Chair Person for Belleville's annual UFO Day Parade. Janet loved to cook and bake, and she taught the Youth Gourmet course during summer school. One of the special needs that was near and dear to Janet was the formation of the Belleville Middle School Musical. She served as the Director and also as the Assistant Director for the High School musicals. She believed every child had talent and deserved a chance to showcase those talents. Janet is survived by her husband Richard, son Aaron and daughter Sarah. Janet is also survived by her parents Ken and Marcene Vondra, Belmont, WI, mother-in-law Diane Hardyman, Platteville, WI, her 6 brothers and sisters - Kristine (Greg Fry) Fennimore, WI, Kevin Vondra, Keiler WI, Brian (Carolyn) Olathe, KS, Mary (Todd Hultman) Baraboo, WI, Jim (Holly) Mineral Point, WI, and Laura ( Wayne Moyer) Galena; brother- in-law David (Mary) Platteville, WI; and 16 nieces and nephews, along with 3 great nephews and a great niece and several aunts and uncles. Janet and her family would like to thank friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, and the entire community, for their support, generosity, and caring throughout Janet's battle with cancer. Your meals, cards, gifts, flowers, visits and other contributions helped us all in this difficult time. We also want to thank the staff at UW Hospital, Meriter Home Care, and HospiceCare for all of their care and support during Janet's battle with cancer. Janet truly believed it took a village to raise a child. To the Village of Belleville, thank you for raising so many fantastic children. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at the ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 338 S. Harrison St., Belleville, WI near the corner of School and Frederick Streets with the Rev. Kenneth Klink officiating, burial will follow in the Belleville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 338 S. Harrison St., Belleville, WI and also from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday at the church. A memorial fund has been established in Janet's memory.
