Hattie Harry, age 93 passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025 at her home. She was born on July 6, 1932 a daughter of Joe and Cecelia (Egan) Best. Hattie had worked for Rennebohm Drug Store in Madison until she was united in marriage to Gilman R. Harry on February 25, 1952. Hattie and Gilman farmed near Evansville, WI until purchasing a farm near Brooklyn, WI in 1967. As a couple they loved to go dancing every Sunday at the Red Barn in Evansville. Hattie loved to make quilts along with cooking and baking pies and treats for family and friends. Hattie volunteered for over 40 years at the Evansville Manor.
Hattie is survived by her sons Leon Harry and Glen (Sue) Harry, grandchildren Dan (Melissa) Harry, Tammy (Glenn) Garfoot, Tina (Jerry) Heinle, and Samantha Stoneback, and great-grandchildren Shaliko, Shyann, Morgan, Evan, and Cody. She is further survived by a brother Frank (Margie) Best and a beloved feline friend Squeaky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gilman, son Steve Harry, half-brothers Joe (Anita) Best & Hank (Ramona) Best, half-sister Mae Shumway,
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI with Rev. William Wineke officiating.
A gathering will precede the memorial service from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home in Belleville.
