Obituary

Harry L. Turner, Sr., age 92 of Monticello passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.  He was born on August 1, 1929 in Pottstown, IL the son of John W. and MaryAnn (Wantling) Turner.  Harry graduated from high school in Peoria, IL in 1947.  On December 1, 1949 he married Florence Green in Peoria.  On August 25, 1950 Harry began his service in the United States Marine Corps, which included serving overseas in Korea during the war.  After serving his country in the Marines Harry returned to Peoria to work at Roy's Dairy until moving to the Evansville, WI area to begin dairy farming.  He also farmed in Johnstown and Stoughton until purchasing a farm outside of Monticello in 1968.  Harry was a member of the Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello and the American Legion.

Harry is survived by his children: Deborah (Steve) Broge, John (Sandie) Turner, Stanley (Kay) Turner, Harry (Christine) Turner, Jr., and Lisa (Mark Gundlach) Turner.  Grandchildren: Kristine (Pete) Charis (David), Danny (Nikki), Michelle (Brad), Matthew (Allison), Lukas (Cassandra), Joshua (Abby), Ethan (Jenny), Zachary (Katie), Michael (Karla), and Jennifer (Tim). Great-grandchildren:  Liam, Lane, Kyli (Scott), Kade, Jaxon, James, Lacey, Brayden, Gavin, Dylan, Mackenzie, Taylor, Nolan, Avery, Lennox, Addison, Hayden, Kora, Griffen, Eiven, Mykelti, Greysyn, Everett, McKenna, Levi, Ruth, Matilda, Marin and Aarin, nieces, and nephews.  He is further survived by the family of his longtime companion Karen Hogan; daughters Julie Frie and Suzanne (Todd) Meier and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Patrick Turner, siblings Marian (Mary) Turner, Glen (Margaret) Turner, and Luella (Ralph) Deatherage, and longtime companion Karen Hogan on January 22, 2021.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Zwingli United Church of Christ, 416 E. Lake Ave., Monticello, WI.  Rev. Lance Smith will officiate.  Burial with military honors will be in the Highland Cemetery, Monticello, WI.

A visitation will precede the funeral service from 11:30 a.m. until time of services on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Zwingli United Church of Christ, 416 E. Lake Ave., Monticello, WI.

The Becker-Beal Funeral Home of Belleville is assisting the family.

A memorial fund has been established.
