Harriet Engen, age 91, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at St. Mary's Care Center in Madison. She was born on August 22, 1919 in Monroe to her parents Michael and Agnes (Teehan) Hyland. Harriet attended St. Victor's Parochial School and graduated with the Monroe High School class of 1937. On August 8, 1940 she was united in marriage to Edmund Engen at St. Victor's Catholic Church in Monroe. Harriet worked for General Casualty Insurance until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Belleville, the Belleville Senior Citizens, and the Weekenders. She was preceded in death by her mother in 1927, father in 1954, husband Edmund in 1977, and a daughter Elaine Olson in 2003. Harriet is survived by her children Jerry (Janet Christopher) Engen of Oregon, Barbara (Jerry Disch) of Oregon, Edward (Bonny) Engen of St. Paul, MN, and Jeffrey Engen of Belleville, eleven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, a son-in-law Leonard "Ole" Olson of Deforest, and many dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 338 S. Harrison St, Belleville, WI with the Rev. Michael Moon officiating with burial in the Calvary Cemetery in Monroe, WI. Relatives and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
