Hans K. Anderegg, age 76, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2013 at the New Glarus Home. He was born on February 5, 1937 in Affoltern am Albis, Switzerland to his parents Hans and Hanna Elise (Thoni) Anderegg. Hans graduated from New Glarus High School in 1957. Following high school he served in the United States Army in Germany. While stationed in Germany Hans played soccer for both the Army team and the local German club. In 1960 he married Margarete Karl in Germany. Later on June 9, 1973 he was united in marriage to Ruth DeHaan at Alden Methodist Church at Alden, IL. Hans was a member of the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus, the Lions Club, and the Jaycees. He also served on the Wilhelm Tell Board and participated in the Tell play for fifty years. Hans farmed and later worked as a carpenter and millwright for many years. He was proud of building the Monona Terrace for J. H. Findorff & Sons. Hans is survived by his wife Ruth of New Glarus, daughters Yvonne (Tom) Cooley of Sun Prairie and Angelika Fernholz of Madison, grandchildren Joseph and Erika Fernholz and Dylan and Shannon Cooley. He is further survived by a brother Josef (Karla) Anderegg of Middleton, a sister Monica (Paul) Fahrni of Waunakee, brothers-in-law Henry (Judith) DeHaan, Clarence (Nita) DeHaan, Dirk (Mary) DeHaan, a sister-in-law Barb Mathison, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Leo, a brother-in-law Robert Mathison, and nephews Tom Fahrni, LeRoy Mathison, and James Mathison. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Swiss United Church of Christ, 18 Fifth Ave., New Glarus, WI with the Rev. Craig Jan-McMahon officiating with burial in the Swiss Church Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus. The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is serving the family. A memorial fund has been established.
