Obituary

Gwendolyn K. Bowar, age 92 passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024 at her home.  She was born on August 19, 1931 in Pine Bluff, WI the daughter of Jacob Joseph and Mary Ellen (Engelberger) Kalscheur.  Gwen graduated from Mount Horeb High School in 1949.  On June 5, 1952 she was united in marriage to Donald Bowar at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pine Bluff.  After Donald passed away in 2002, Gwen would marry William J. O'Connor on June 12, 2010 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Belleville.  Gwen operated Gwen's Interiors for over 40 years supplying and altering draperies for homes.  She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's and the St. Mary's Ladies Society.  Gwen was an accomplished breadmaker and passed that skill onto her daughter Netsy, she also loved gardening and was an avid sports fan, especially the Wisconsin sports teams.  She loved to follow her grandchildren in their athletic and school activities along with going out for dinners and attending social events.  Gwen enjoyed spending winters in Arizona for over 30 years and making many friends while there.  She also enjoyed the times spent at the Northern getaway in Hazelhurst for over 50 years.

Gwen is survived by her children Lynn (Erik) Forshaug, Steve (Colleen) Bowar, Duane (Teri) Bowar, Dana (Mary Lenz) Bowar, Bob (Phyllis) Bowar, and Netsy (Peanut) Greiber, grandchildren Lara, Anna (Kody), Mike (Laurel), Dan (Alexa), Melanie (Dale), Jacqui (Jeff), Alyssa (Jacob), Ben, Jessica, Nic (Amy), Andrew (Kelsey), Sarah (Jon), Ryan (Brittany), Daylon, Liam, Lydia, Katie (Niko), Ashley, and Libby, and twenty-great-grandchildren.  She is further survived by her brothers Tom Kalscheur and Gerald "Jip" (Lucy) Kalscheur, sisters Pidge Meffert and Kathy (Randy) Kneebone, sisters-in-law Betty Kessenich, Jeanette Ziegler, Mary Ann Connors, Ruthie (Duane) Maly, and Annabelle Bowar.  Gwen is also survived by Bill's family Jayne (Larry) Kosmeder, Marcy (Stan) Keehn, Ruth (Daniel) Wyttenbach, William (Joan) O'Connor, and Paul (Diane) O'Connor, sisters-in-law Ruth, Kathy, and Lucille O'Connor, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law, husband's Donald and Bill, son Billy, grandson Billy, sisters Jeanne, Joanne Sutter, Marlene "Chub" Cunneen, and Joyce Bollig, and daughter-in-law Vicki.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church-Pine Bluff, 3673 County Rd. P, Cross Plains, WI with Rev. Michael Wanta and Rev. Tom Coyle officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Pine Bluff, WI.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church-Pine Bluff, 3673 County Rd. P, Cross Plains, WI.

The Becker-Beal Funeral Home of Belleville is assisting the family.

The family would like to thank the staff of AgraceHospiceCare, Inc. for the kind and compassionate care give to Gwen.
