Grant C. Slotten, age 87, of New Glarus and former resident of the Town of Primrose passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. He was born March 26, 1927 on the family homestead in the Town of Primrose to his parents Thomas and Beulah (Rear) Slotten. Grant graduated from Mt. Horeb High School in 1945. On June 1, 1952 he married Patricia Hefty in New Glarus, WI. Grant farmed the Slotten homestead farm, operated Slotten Farm Services, and also S & H Limestone along with Oliver Hanna. He had been active in the NFO. He also was a representative for Vigortone Feeds and Kaltenberg Seed. In September of 2013 he retired from Walmart. Grant was a lifetime member of the Primrose Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. Grant enjoyed dancing, playing Home Talent Baseball, and watching the Brewers, Packers, and Badgers. He also sponsored a bowling team in New Glarus for many years. Grant is survived by his son Lary (Leslie) Slotten of Belleville, WI and daughter Lynn Slotten of New Glarus, WI, grandchildren Lance (Cassie) Slotten of Monroe, WI, Heather (Casey) Nysted of Argyle, WI, Spencer Slotten of Monticello, WI, Craig Slotten of Monticello, WI, and Carlton Lease of Monticello, WI, great-grandchildren Natalee Walters, Chesney Slotten, Dane and Brock Nysted. He is further survived by a sister Dolores Hanson of Mt. Horeb, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Sylvester, Orvin, Eugene, Thomas, and Robert. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the Primrose Lutheran Church, 8770 Ridge Dr., Belleville, WI with the Rev. Nicole Espe officiating with burial in the West Primrose Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 15, 2014 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI. A memorial fund has been established.
