Obituary

Glenn Schmid, age 86, passed away at his home on Friday, August 7, 2015. He was born on February 15, 1929 in the Town of Adams, rural Green County to his parents Christ and Bertha (Stauffacher) Schmid. Glenn graduated from Monticello High School in 1947. Following high school he served in the U.S. Army in Korea. After returning from service he farmed for many years. In 1959 he was united in marriage to Mary Jackson at the Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello, the couple later divorced. Glenn was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a fan of all sports especially baseball. Glenn is survived by his sons Rusty (Teresa) Schmid of Monticello, WI and Mike (Jodie) Schmid of Rolla, MO, and daughter Sherry (Tom) Bocklund of Ferryville, WI, five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a brother Henry (Fran) Schmid of Monroe, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Alvin and Robert, sisters Suzann and Marion, and a great-granddaughter. A graveside service with full military honors was held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at the Washington Reformation Church Cemetery, N6026 Church Rd., Monticello, WI, and the Rev. Roger Olsen officiated. A gathering of relatives and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2015 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Avenue, New Glarus, WI.
