Gene I. "Geno" Disch, age 59, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2013. He was born on March 20, 1954 to Kenneth and Alice (Duerst) Disch in New Glarus. Gene attended New Glarus High School and graduated in 1972. Gene met and later married Renee Ann Aerts on July 28, 1984 at the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus. He worked for Federal Industries, Belleville, for 40 years. Gene was also known to his friends and fellow co-workers as "Barrelhead". Gene enjoyed mini getaways, Halloween, movies, dining out, softball, and music. Gene was a talented athlete in high school and afterwards. Gene is survived by his wife of 29 years, Renee (Aerts); sister, Paulette Biccum of Madison, brothers; Frederick (Beverly) of Texas, and Roderick (Anita) of Monroe, Mother-in-law, Deanna Aerts, brother-in-law Jeff (Pam) Aerts of McFarland, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Alice, father-in-law, Thomas Aerts, and brother-in-law, Scott Aerts. Throughout Gene's illness, his sense of humor always shone through. He was a source of strength, inspiration, and amazement for many, despite his battle. He had a strong will. He was always thinking of others, right up until the end. The family wishes to send a special thank you to Gene's doctors and nurses throughout his illness and surgeries, especially Dr. Stephen Olcott. Appreciation also goes to Agrace Hospice for their caring and compassionate support. Sincere appreciation goes to caregiver Darlene. A big "thank you" to Monty Olson, may he rest in peace. The love and support of friends and family during this extremely difficult time has been tremendous. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Ave., New Glarus, WI.
