Gary L. Baumgartner, age 78, of the Town of Perry passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI.  He was born on September 6, 1945 in Monroe, WI the son of William and Wilma (Melland) Baumgartner.  Gary attended the Forward Grade School and then graduated from Mount Horeb High School in 1963.  Gary would go on to complete the University of Wisconsin Short Course in Madison.  On August 17, 1968 he was united in marriage to Jean Gjesvold at the Perry Lutheran Church.  Gary was a lifelong farmer and steward of the land.  As a member of the Perry Lutheran Church, he served on the council for many years and demonstrated his faith through his daily life.

Gary is survived by his wife Jean, children Kevin Baumgartner and Karla Baumgartner, grandchildren Tanner and Lizzy Baumgartner and Nathan Lacy.  He is further survived by his brother Keith (Sue) Baumgartner, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Janice & Mike Mostrom, nieces Trisha, Heidi, and Rachel, nephew Paul.  Gary will be deeply missed by the other special people in his life Sarah, Marty & Judy, Paul & Dawn, Walter & Heather, Ralph & Jan along with the many friends and neighbors and his cat Oscar.

He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law and mother-in-law Kenneth & Alice Gjesvold.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the Perry Lutheran Church, 1057 State Road 78, Mount Horeb, WI.  Rev. Kelli Fisher will officiate.

A gathering of relatives and friends will precede the memorial service from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the Perry Lutheran Church.

The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is assisting the family.
