Eva B. Kammerud, age 88, beloved mother and grandmother passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Meriter Hospital in Madison. She was born on September 3, 1926 on the farm in the Town of York in Green County, WI to her parents Halvor and Ellen (Swenson) Breisath. Eva attended the York Center Country School and graduated from Blanchardville High School in 1944. Following high school Eva moved to Madison and worked at Baron's Department Store until returning to Blanchardville. She was united in marriage to Orlean Kammerud on October 9, 1946 after he was discharged from the service. Their union brought two children Dianna and Beth. Eva was a member of the Pecatonica VFW Post #10395 and the Mineral Point Disabled American Veterans of Foreign Wars. Following her husband's passing Eva moved in with her daughter Beth and assisted in caring for Tara and Jacob. She was a fiercely independent woman who enjoyed walking her neighborhood and visiting along the way. Eva is survived by her daughters Dianna (Dwight) Truttmann and Beth Bast, grandchildren Douglas (Dana) Truttmann, Daniel (Shelly) Truttmann, Paula (Richard) Legler, Tara (James Loeffelholtz) Bast, and Jacob Bast, and great-grandchildren Emily, Alayna, Mark, Jonathon, Collin, and Ellen. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Viola Olson and Joyce Clausing, and brothers Julian and Howard. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Ave., New Glarus, WI with the Rev. William Wineke officiating. A gathering of relatives and friends will precede the service from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home in New Glarus.
