He was born on January 5, 1934 in the Town of Perry, WI the son of Hjalmer and Amy Belinda (Steensland) Duffy. Gene was inducted into the United States Army in 1954 and served in Korea until his discharge in 1956. He was a member of the Stuessy-Kuenzi American Legion Post #141. After returning from the service Gene worked for Kraemer Brothers construction to help build Yellowstone Lake near Blanchardville. He retired from Federal Industries in Belleville in 1999. On February 24, 1962 he was united in marriage to Linda Elmer at the Swiss United Church of Christ.
