Ethel M. Lamboley

Ethel M. Lamboley, 91, of Belleville passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026. She was born Ethel Mae Esser at home in Glen Haven, WI, on October 11, 1934, the daughter of Carl P. and Genevieve Schneider Esser. She graduated as Valedictorian of Bloomington, WI, class of 1952. She moved to Madison after graduating high school and met her husband of 71 years at a dance at Turner Hall in Madison. They were married on February 27th, 1954. Mom was a stay-at-home mom and helped on the farm until their youngest child started school fulltime. She then started working off the farm. She retired from the State with about 30 years of service. After her retirement, she worked part time at the Belleville Public Library and volunteered at Sugar River Senior Center. Ethel and Ray took many trips over the years that they both enjoyed, with Switzerland being their favorite. They were card players and spent many nights out dancing with family, friends and neighbors.

Ethel is survived by her children, Tom, Debbie (Rick) Bongard, Jim (Faye), David (Coleen), and Brian (Maria) all of Belleville. Grandchildren Jeff and Becky Lamboley, Kyle Bongard, Laura (Kyle Mercer) Lamboley, Alexis and Macy Lamboley. Great grandchildren Faith Lamboley, Noah Schwartz, Carter and Elena Bongard, Liam and Emma Lamboley, her brother Henry (Buzz) Esser of Bagley, WI, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Lamboley, her parents Carl and Genevieve Esser, Sister Mary Esser, sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Ken Kluesner, sister-in law Connie Esser, and half-brother Francis (Bud) Esser. Ray's parents, Arthur and Anna Lamboley, sisters-in-law and their husbands, Mary (Bob) Berger and Helen (Ted) Woodruff, and a nephew John Berger.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI.

A gathering of relatives and friends will precede the memorial service from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Sugar River EMS or Sugar River Senior Center.
