Jr.
August 21, 1932 – January 8, 2025
Ernest Roth Jr., age 92, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on August 21, 1932 at his family home in Footville, WI, the son of Ernest and Margaret (Marty) Roth Sr. Ernie began working for General Motors at the Janesville Assembly Plant in the early 1950's becoming a proud member of the UAW Local # 95. He married the love of his life, Karen Frankenberger, on February 7, 1953 at Footville Church of Christ two weeks before being drafted into the United States Army. Following his discharge from the Army in 1955 Ernie returned to General Motors and worked there until his retirement in February of 1988. Ernie enjoyed his 80-acre hobby farm, in Orfordville, where he raised beef, chickens, horses, donkeys, dogs, and his 3 children. Together they spent seven months of the year, for the past 37 years, at their home in Winter Haven, FL. Ernie followed Karen on their world travels while documenting their adventures with thousands of slides for all to enjoy.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, brother William Roth, sister Mary Cosgrove, and an infant brother Albert.
He is survived by his wife of almost 72 years, Karen, his sister Bonnie Olson and his children; Rhonda (David) Bier, Renate Howells, and Derik (Cindy) Roth. The family would like to thank Dr. Bluemel and staff for their professional and caring services.
Our family is respecting their wishes and holding off on a service until they are together again and then we will give them a farewell together, just as they lived the majority of their lives, lovingly together as one.
The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is assisting the family.
