Emily L. Gorney, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI. She was born on June 26, 1927 in Chicago, IL to her parents Charles and Julia (Jaracz) Pucka. Emily graduated from Kelly High School. On September 28, 1957 she was united in marriage to James Adam Gorney in Chicago where they lived until their retirement to the New Glarus area. Emily loved spending time with her family and adored her grandson. She was an excellent cook and prepared many delicious meals. Emily loved doing crossword puzzles and involving others in it. Many nights while watching TV her family heard her ask, "What's a five letter word for ?" She also enjoyed puttering in her small flower garden while feeling the warm sun on her back. Emily was actively involved in her women's church group in Chicago and her lady's club in New Glarus. Emily is survived by her husband James, two sons Sanford Gorney of Lapeer, MI and Scott Gorney of Frankfort, IL, a daughter Amy (George) Maas of Wanatah, IN, and a grandson Hank Maas. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Robert and Chester Pucka. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 6th Ave., New Glarus, WI. Relatives and friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2010 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home in New Glarus.
