Obituary

After a long and hard fought battle with illness, Elmira (Mira), passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 with her loving family near her side. Mira was born on January 27, 1934 to Sidney & Wilhelmina Knight in Bloomingdale, Il. She graduated from Dundee High School in 1952.

Mira met and married the love of her life, Robert Kammes, July 26, 1958. In 1970, they moved their family to Wisconsin where they ran a dairy farm. Mira loved working with all of the animals on the farm but especially her Holstein cows. Mira also enjoyed working as a waitress in Belleville for many years.

Mira had a passion for sewing and was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making clothing for her family throughout her life. She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting, making sweaters, scarves, hats, etc. and made afgans for each one of her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. During the retirement years, Mira and Bob traveled to Arizona each winter. Mira enjoyed friendship, playing cards, shuffleboard, and a variety of other activities while there.

She is proceeded in death by her father and mother, her sisters, Elaine Van Acker, infant sister, Geraldine, and a brother, Wayne Knight.

Mira is survived by her husband, Robert, her children Robert (Tammy) Kammes, Kathy (Shannon) Manogue, Anthony Kammes, grandchildren, Michael (Amber) Wyttenbach, Matt Wyttenbach, Brenda Wyttenbach, Tanya Kammes, Rebecca Kammes, Bridget Kammes, Keeley Manogue, Morgan Manogue, Samantha Kammes and Courtney Kammes and step grandsons, Jeff, Roger, Christopher, and Tim along with their mother, Anjie Kammes, and great grandchildren, James, Kinley, Carter, and Dominic.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2017 beginning at 9:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am with Rev. Mick Moon and Rev. Kenneth Klink officiating at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 338 South Harrison St. Belleville, Wisconsin. Burial will follow at St. Raphael's Frenchtown Cemetery.

The Becker-Beal Funeral Home of Belleville is assisting the family.

A memorial fund has been established in her memory.
